On 26 and 27 November 2009, FIN ACT Inc. hosted the 2009 FIN National Gathering at the Australian Catholic University, Canberra.
The theme for the Gathering was “Human Rights in Child Protection”.
This event brought together a range of people with an interest or involvement in the child protection system in Australia, including young people who have been in out-of-home care, their parents and families; social workers and family support workers, lawyers, researchers and policy makers.
The National Gathering was an opportunity for participants to learn from each other about current and emerging issues in child protection through active engagement in workshops, discussions and debates.
The Gathering started with a panel discussion, facilitated by Janenne Hamilton, Deputy CEO, Relationships Australia. This conversation touched on important issues, ideas and debates relevant to the Gathering theme.
A paper reflecting the issues and themes discussed at the Gathering can be downloaded here.
